LEGAL & REQUIREMENTS
Yes. NJ legalized adult-use cannabis for individuals 21 and older. The Cannabis Regulatory Commission (CRC) oversees licensing and regulation.
A valid, non-expired, government-issued photo ID showing 21+. Driver's license, state ID card, passport, passport card, or military ID. Must show photo and date of birth.
Up to 1 oz (28.35 g) of flower per transaction, or the equivalent weight in other product forms. Your budtender can help you understand equivalency across multiple product types.
No. NJ law prohibits cannabis consumption in public spaces — sidewalks, parks, beaches, vehicles. Private property only, with the owner's permission. Even parked vehicles are prohibited.
No. Driving under the influence of cannabis is illegal and dangerous. Cannabis impairs reaction time, judgment, and coordination. Arrange alternative transportation.
No. Adults 21+ purchase recreational cannabis without a medical card. NJ medical patients should bring an NJ CRC patient card for medical-specific products and tax benefits.

Tell a budtender your experience level, the effects you want (relaxation, energy, pain relief, sleep), and any concerns. They recommend products that match your goals — no cannabis knowledge required.
Indica = relaxation/body. Sativa = energy/cerebral. Hybrid = blend of both. Modern science weighs terpene profiles and cannabinoid ratios more than the indica/sativa label. Budtenders guide based on specific effects.
SAFETY & DOSING
Start low, go slow. Edibles: 2.5-5mg THC. Flower or vapes: one small puff, wait 10-15 min. Tinctures: lowest recommended dose. You can always take more — you can't take less.
30-90 minutes typically, sometimes up to 2 hours. Varies based on metabolism, food in stomach, and biology. Don't take a second dose until 90 min has passed. Effects last 4-8 hours.
Stay calm. No one has fatally overdosed on cannabis. Find a safe, comfortable place. Drink water. Eat. Deep breathing. CBD may help counteract THC. Effects pass within 1-3 hours. If severe distress, call 911.
Generally safe for healthy adults when used responsibly — but not risk-free. Impairs judgment + coordination. May worsen anxiety in some. Not recommended for pregnancy or breastfeeding. Consult a doctor if you have a history of psychosis or specific mental health conditions. Not FDA-approved.
